Aren’t You Glad…

Tuesday, November 20th, 2007

Aren’t you glad that Gatorade was invented at the University of Florida instead of Florida State University? I mean, there’s nothing wrong with Florida State (as you can see from the pictures above and below and from the link here). My problem is that the University of Florida created a sports drink especially for their football team and named after their mascot, the Gators.

This drink was, of course, named GatorAde. Now, FSU’s mascot is the Seminoles.

Soooo, had it been invented at FSU, it might have been named Seminole Fluid. And who wants to drink Seminole Fluid… except maybe the comely young lass below. Oh, and the FSU girls might like it too. And maybe the guys at Daily Kos or IVAW.

NFL player make University of Florida Proud

Maybe he was joking, but gregarious Dolphins linebacker Channing Crowder confessed today he didn’t know until Tuesday that people spoke English in London.

Crowder, a former Florida Gator and Atlanta native, apparently isn’t sure where the plane is headed when it takes off this afternoon for Sunday’s game against the New York Giants in Wembley Stadium.

“I couldn’t find London on a map if they didn’t have the names of the countries,” Crowder said. “I swear to God. I don’t know what nothing is. I know Italy looks like a boot. I learned that.

“I know (Washington Redskins linebacker) London Fletcher. We did a football camp together. So I know him. That’s the closest thing I know to London. He’s black, so I’m sure he’s not from London. I’m sure that’s a coincidental name.”

I actually agree with him. If those people there in Asia want to have a football game, then the Londoners need to learn to speak American. Also, no more Latin American baseball players until they give up Latin and speak our language.
