What we really need is some CIR….

Monday, April 7th, 2008

Well, not reallly.

(CBS) It was 5 a.m. and CBS News national correspondent Byron Pitts is with a woman who is nine months pregnant. She’s rushed to a south Texas hospital to undergo a C-section – a $4,700 medical procedure that won’t cost her a dime. She qualifies for emergency Medicaid.

She gave birth to a healthy, 8 1/2 pound baby boy – born in America. His Mexican mother gave him an American name: Eliot.

Eliot is one of an estimated 300,000 children of illegal immigrants born in the United States every year, according to the Pew Hispanic Center. They’re given instant citizenship because they are born on U.S. soil, which makes it easier for their parents to become U.S. citizens.

That’s because those babies can eventually sponsor their parents – when they turn 21 years old.

As for Eliot’s mother, no longer as fearful of deportation, she told CBS News her name, Fabiola, and her story.

“So your son is an American citizen. What does that mean to you?” Pitts asked.

“I am very glad that he was born. That’s why I came here – so my children, my husband and I could have a better life,” she said through a translator.

Back in December, when she was six months pregnant, Fabiola, her husband and their two daughters – ages 4 and 11 – crossed the Rio Grande from Mexico into the U.S.

Once on the other side of the river they walked for two hours in search of a better life and free medical care for their unborn child.

“Do many women in Mexico make the choice to have their children in the United States?” Pitts asked.

“Yes,” she said through a translator. “I know people who have done that. Things are much better here in the U.S. because they help children so much more.”

It’s a “better” life … that American taxpayers help pay for.

Take healthcare for example — an estimated $1.1 billion per year for undocumented men, women and children, according to the Rand Corporation.

Joe Riley is the CEO of the McAllen Texas Medical Center near the Texas-Mexico border. Forty percent of the children born there, nearly 2,400 last year, were the babies of illegal immigrants.

Riley has seen and heard it all.

“Mothers about to give birth that walk up to the hospital still wet from swimming across the river in actual labor … dirty, wet, cold,” he said.

But here to have a child?

“Here to have a child in the U.S.,” he said.

McAllen is part of a large hospital system. Like all hospitals, it is mandated by law to treat all emergency-room patients, not verify citizenship.

“We have uncompensated care of over $200 million a year,” Riley said.

“Of money that you’ll never see again?” Pitts asked.

“Yes,” he said.

Rep. Lamar Smith, R-Texas, said: “It is not fair to the taxpayers who have to foot the bill.”

Congress has all but given up on comprehensive immigration reform. But lawmakers like Smith want to solve birth citizenship to illegal immigrants, in part by challenging the 14th Amendment, which guarantees U.S. citizenship to any child born in America.

“It seems fundamentally wrong that we ought to give the greatest honor of their citizenship,” Smith said. “His or her mother came across the border illegally.”

Many Americans who struggle to take care of their own families think it is unfair that they should take care of a family and they are not U.S. citizens.

“I don’t understand the resentment,” said. “I know that God will help them, too.”

That’s what Fabiola’s doing for young Eliot. Relying on her faith, her family … and the U.S. government.

Each year, illegal babies equal to the population of Pittsburgh, PA while people pay 5 figures in Medical Insurance with 4 digit deductables….

That Which You Subsidize…

NEW YORK (Reuters) – Investment banks Goldman Sachs Group Inc, Lehman Brothers Holdings Inc and Morgan Stanley are testing a new program that allows investment banks to borrow directly from the Federal Reserve, according to people at the banks.

In a bid to stabilize jittery markets, the Fed said on Sunday that it would allow investment banks to borrow from its discount window using a wide range of investment-grade securities as collateral.

Goldman Sachs plans to test the program sometime this week, a spokesman said. Morgan Stanley Chief Financial Officer Colm Kelleher said his bank has already tested the program, and a spokeswoman for Lehman said the investment bank has also done so.

Erin Callan, CFO at Lehman Brothers Holdings Inc, said in a conference call on Tuesday that dealers can borrow from the discount window at attractive terms.

“We would expect that the dealer community will actively begin to access the new program,” Callan said. The program is a statement of confidence to parties that trade with and finance Lehman, and will also allow Lehman to fund more business with clients, she added.

In August, when commercial paper markets were seizing up, the Fed cut the discount rate for commercial banks. Soon after that, the four largest U.S. banks and a major international bank borrowed more than $2 billion total at the discount window, to help remove the stigma of getting short-term financing from the central bank.

First, it is obvious that the banks have gotten over that stigma.

Second, notice how none of the banks tapping into the “free money” are not in trouble?

Third, how does one become a bank?

U.S. to Speed Deportation of Criminals in Jail

Tuesday, January 15th, 2008

No, really. Stop laughing, it must be true, it is in the NYTimes.

Federal authorities expect to identify and deport more than 200,000 immigrants this year who are convicted criminals serving time in prisons and jails across the country, the country’s top federal immigration enforcement official said Monday.

The effort to speed the deportation of foreign-born criminals is part of a campaign by the Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency to help federal and state prisons reduce the costs of housing immigrants, the official, Julie L. Myers, assistant secretary of homeland security and head of the agency, said in an interview.

In 2007, Ms. Myers said, the agency, known as ICE, brought formal immigration charges against 164,000 immigrants who are behind bars nationwide for crimes committed in this country. Many of those immigrants are still in the United States and are also slated for deportation this year, she said. By comparison, in 2006, the agency identified 64,000 immigrants behind bars, most of whom were deported.

Immigration Raids net 1,300 Illegals, in just 1 area of LA!

Thursday, October 4th, 2007

Here are some snippets from an article today.

“In what federal authorities are calling the largest sweep of criminal and fugitive immigrants, federal agents over the past two weeks have arrested more than 1,300 Southland immigrants in their homes, in jails and at work, officials announced Wednesday.”

“Immigrant-rights groups decried the raids for stirring fear in the community, noting that more than 100 of those arrested had no criminal or court record. “

Now we all know that if there were 150 without criminal or court records, the “rights” group would have said, “almost 200″. So lets use 150 as the number of law-breaking illegals that haven’t been caught. That means that 88% of the illegals caught had a record in on way or another.

“Officials said 797 inmates were taken from local jails, including 240 from those overseen by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. Ventura County turned over 125 inmates, and the state prison in Lancaster had 41. “

So we knew where they were, who they were. AND the government did nothing.

“Some of the inmates were sexual predators or gang members. “

Color me shocked.

“The U.S. Attorney’s Office is prosecuting about a dozen of those arrested in the two-week operation for re-entering the U.S. after being deported. Most of those suspects are facing three to five years in federal prison. “

“Too often in the past, (deportation) orders were ignored and aliens thought that after getting an order of removal they could slip back into society,” said Julie Myers, assistant secretary for ICE.

Now how did they get that impression?

“Those days are no longer.”

Or at least until the heat is off, then it will go back to business as usual.

Am I The Only One Who Hasn’t Heard Of This? And If I Am, Where Is The Outrage?

Friday, August 17th, 2007

Absolute proof that the whole concept of blanket amnesty for illegal aliens is about as smart as recruiting child molesters to work in day care centers:

Had authorities in Newark New Jersey contacted federal immigration officials after illegal alien Jose Carranza’s first felony indictment last year he would have been deported and therefore prevented from murdering three innocent youngsters in a schoolyard this month.

Instead Carranza was released on bail, despite being charged with raping a 5-year-old girl and aggravated assault and weapons violations. This week he was charged with the gruesome execution-style murders of three college-bound students, ages 18 to 20.

The shootings evidently pushed Newark authorities to violate their sanctuary policy and contact federal immigration officials who had not been previously informed about Carranza’s crime spree. If they had, Carranza would have placed in removal proceedings after his first felony arrest in October 2006.

But like a growing number of municipalities across the nation, Newark is an official illegal immigrant “Sanctuary City” in which police cannot ask a suspect about immigration status. Other sanctuary havens include Detroit, San Francisco, Seattle, Houston and New Haven.

I’ve heard TONS about the tragic, execution-style killings of three youths in New Jersey… but when it came time to report that a recidivist illegal alien stands accused of carrying out the killings in a sanctuary city, the MSM came up short on their integrity check. This is the first time I’ve heard of that.

I did some checking and found out that some news outlets did indeed report his status and history, but the ones that did were primarily the ones tagged as “right wing” or “faux news” or “embarrassingly accurate”. I have no doubt that the reporting of Carranza’s illegal status will be labeled as “racist” or “a violation of his civil liberties” or “embarrassingly accurate” by numerous blogs and far left news outlets (such as CNN, AP, and Pravda), but the fact remains that Carranza and his ilk are, by their illegal entry into and refusal to voluntarily leave our country, criminals.

And if an illegal immigrant has no problem breaking the laws that regulate who can reside in America and who can’t, what would stop them from breaking the others?

And by the way, now Newark wants to yank Carranza’s sanctuary status and hand him to the feds. Convenient compassion seems to be in vogue in New Jersey… or maybe it’s just a reaction to cognitive dissonance.

UPDATE: "[comp.imm.ref.]-head" the dog can keep his headstone

Tuesday, August 14th, 2007

It’s not often that Uniontown, Kentucky is mentioned on morning drive radio programs across the United States, but the fate of a departed dog and it’s final resting place have sparked national interest in a debate going on in the town of just over 1000.

Eight years ago, Judy Hagan buried her dog in a plot she purchased from the city, at the center of the Uniontown City Cemetery. The plot sits beneath a flag pole put up to honor veterans.

Hagan and the city didn’t hear any complaints about the dog’s final resting place until about two weeks ago, when Judy took some extra cash and invested it in a headstone for the dog. That’s when things became very contentious in the small town.

The reason for the controversy: the dog’s name. It’s first name was a vulgar term for bodily waste. It’s last name was Head. That name is inscribed on the headstone.

After days of searching legal records and historical records for the county, the Uniontown City Council determined that there is no law that will allow them to remove the dog or the marker.

Mayor Kevin Ferguson asked the dog’s owner if they would consider removing it on their own, and they declined. So, ****head will stay, and so will the headstone.

What the council did decide to do is write some regulations for future burials at the cemetery, and for headstones there. They’re also considering moving the veterans’ flag pole, and they’re hoping all the attention fades as fast as it started.

For the sake of brevity, I am now using [CIR] to denote excrement.

Puff, the Magic Moron

Once upon a time, a town in Pennsylvania called Hazelton got fed up with an invasion of foreign criminals and gangs. Hazelton passed a law to make the lives of these criminals a lot tougher.

However, a U.S. District Court judge named named James Munley (a Clinton appointee, so you can see where this is going already) overturned Hazelton’s attempt at self-defense in a 206-page crock of (expletive deleted). Incredibly, that enormous volume of dung chastised Hazelton for “excessive enforcement” against illegalsbecause it could jeopardize foreign relations, adding that Hazelton failed to consider “the implications of the ordinances on foreign policy.” Kiss my (expletive deleted) ing (expletive deleted), Judge Munley.

Enter Barack Hussein Obama, who had the audacity to issue a statement calling this “a victory for all Americans.” Get a load of this quote and just try to comprehend how stupid it is: “The anti-immigrant law passed by Mayor Barletta was unconstitutional and unworkable – and it underscores the need for comprehensive immigration reform so local communities do not continue to take matters into their own hands.”

We all know what a festering pile of dung “comprehensive” “immigration” “reform” (parentheses around all three words intentional) is. We also know that local communities taking matters into their own hands is the only way anything will be done about illegals. We further know that only 22% of those polled were for the cowardly amnesty for illegals (a.k.a. “comprehensive” “immigration” “reform”) that was recently shot down.

My question: why the hell would Barack Hussein Obama issue a statement so stupid? “A victory for all Americans?” Hillary Rodham isn’t that stupid, and until today I wouldn’t have thought Barack Hussein Obama was, either. Live and learn.

This apparently took place a few days ago (July 27th), but was brought to my attention only today. I’ll remember this always: it was on August 1st, 2007, that I first knew for certain that Hillary would get the Democratic nomination.

Global Warming also causing gender transformation

Tuesday, July 31st, 2007

Man made global warming is a bunch of [comprehensive immigration reform.] Not buying it, don’t care what you say. Not nearly enough proof. Anyway, now I am scared though, after reading the article linked above.

A delegation of senators traveled by fishing boat and helicopter last weekend through a remote stretch of Greenland that’s covered by a thick — and receding — sheet of glacial ice. The group of seven Democrats, two Republicans and one independent set out to explore firsthand the effects of climate change in a region where glacial melting and rising sea levels have already forced the human and animal population to adapt. The senators returned Sunday from the two-day trip, and Democrats, along with independent Sen. Bernie Sanders of Vermont spoke about their experiences in a press conference Monday.

That however, is not the part that scares the ever loving [comprehensive immigration reform] out of me. This does:

Sen. Klobuchar, D-Minn., called the melting Greenland ice sheet the “canary in the coal mine of climate change,” meaning he sees the warming of Greenland as the first sign of a catastrophe.

And it ought to scare the [comprehensive immigration reform] out of you too, because just a week ago, Senator Klobuchar looked like this:

Now, that wasn’t a “he” when (s)he left, so, what can we expect from more global warming.

I’m guessing these reporters didn’t even bother to research anything, including the gender of those speaking. God I hate the media.
