Regardless Of What your Stance On The Matter Is…

May 10th, 2012 by The Sniper

This week President Obama spoke out about his support of gay marriage following North Carolina’s vote to ban it and pretty much all other civil unions. For years the gay community has been disappointed with the president’s commitment to gay marriage especially after his statement during his 2008 campaign wherein he flat out told the country that he did not, in fact, support gay marriage. When then New Jersey Governor Jim McGreevey made intimations that Michelle Obama supported gay marriage, her staff answered on her behalf stating that she did not support it. So where did all of this goodwill towards men marrying men come from? Well, it’s an election year.

Obama had a majority in both houses of congress for two years yet he failed to secure gay marriage rights or even try making an attempt to do so. During those 730 days when he and his party had supremacy, nay primacy, to do whatever they pleased to fulfill all of the campaign promises that they said the Republicans were supposedly blocking they did nothing for gay marriage rights. So what changed his mind now? Well, it’s an election year.

Now Obama does not have a majority so he can blame Republicans once again for his failure to act. Now he can rouse the American public to voting action through even more empty promises of future rights that simply will not appear. These same Americans that felt outrage at North Carolina’s ban of gay marriage are the same ones that apparently haven’t been paying attention to Obama’s conspicuous inaction on the subject when he had the chance to fix it virtually unopposed for the first two years of his administration. These same Americans are also apparently oblivious to the stagnant economy, spiked gas prices, and dwindling liberties under the Obama administration, yet will once again rally to his banner for the price of a few empty words. These are the same people that mocked Hillary Clinton when she said something along the lines of “I opposed the war after I supported it” yet they support Obama when he offers the same kind of hollow platitudes regarding gay marriage. How does he think he can get away with this? Well, it’s an election year.

The man flat out stated that he didn’t support gay marriage during his first campaign, did nothing to support gay marriage throughout his first administration, and now he wants to pander to the gay community by supposedly flip-flopping on his position and telling everyone, despite a mountain of evidence to the contrary, that he supports gay marriage? How could any rational, intelligent person believe this kind of blatant bill of goods? Well, it’s an election year…

  1. AS a North Carolina resident, I only have one thing to say.

I was told many, many times after the Light Bringer was elected “Get Over it, the people have spoken, We won, you lost” and so on. Well it seems that the people have once again spoken, so the libtards can just pound sand.

I am not speaking for or against on this post: I am simply stating that there is a shitload of KoolAid being doled out and everybody is chugging gallons of it without any critical thinking.

Out of everything that Obummer does or any other political/social issue, this one has generated more hate social media posts, debates, & de-friendings that any other. Pointing out points you mentioned are sure to get yourself labeled a ‘biggot, gay-basher or even worse. Logic completely escapes lefties in their brainwashed hate of conservatives, reality & just about anything that makes sense.

I’m just glad you are alive Sniper… I was beginning to wonder.

Back in 2006 when the media pronounced he was “so Presidential” I was shocked and amazed ANYONE with 2 or more functioning brain cells could agree…

    Spot on commentary dude.

    Be well.

Sniper, you’re a smart guy and a great writer, but come on. Obama announced his support for gay marriage as a brilliant election-year move to, uh, win the votes of the gays? Other than a very few Log Cabin Republicans, most gays were already gonna vote for Obama anyway. In fact, his announcement was a big gamble, in that he might have lost swing voters who support him on other issues; we’ll see.

He needed SOMETHING considering his economic record is abysmal and so is his civil rights record after signing a law that allows for indefinite detention of US citizens without due process.
