Friday Motivator

March 12th, 2010 by The Sniper

I know I usually do a demotivator on Fridays, but I made this one and I thought it was important enough to stand alone as the sole Friday post.

By the way, the photograph here is from Reuters. The photographer did the hard job of risking his life and capturing the moment. The picture itself did the talking… I only acted as interpreter and put print to the unspoken words.

    Just awesome.

To hell with the haters. This is a great motivator.

  4. Troll Feeder says:

I’d like to make it into a big magnet for the tailgate of my truck. Are you OK with me doing that if I include your web address on it, or would you rather I not? I won’t do anything with it without your permission.

  5. Mr. Blue says:

Might want to think about having that one available for purchase. I’d buy a poster size one & hang it in my office.

    Nicely done!

  6. Shelley Rothman says:

Please tell me how I can buy a copy of this. What a moving photograph. God bless them.

  7. Mom would like a poster of it as I see many on here would.

Please let us know if this is something you plan to do.

    Thanks,
    Jody

  8. SFC MAC says:

    Hey Greg,
Want the definition of “premeditated”? 9/11, IEDs, everytime a muslim terrorist scumbag walks into a crowded marketplace and sets off the bomb they strapped on underneath their clothes…that’s “premeditated”. Tell you what, sweetpea: I’d have neutron-bombed 3/4ths of the Middle East on 12 Septamber 2001. Then we wouldn’t have had to worry about anymore premeditated terrorist attacks in the name of “allah”.

You can go back to playing with yourself, now.

Proud to call you pal. Well done sir. Continue.

I’m working on getting something out. I have to work out some licensing issues first but I’m doing that as we speak.

  11. TheLip says:

My son serves and I’m proud of him. Should make a poster of this.

  12. Bonecrusher says:

This is my first visit to your site; I was drawn by the poster-to-be ‘HONOR’. Well done, brought tears to my eyes. My prayers go to our soldiers in harm’s way and to our country which is currently in the grips of talking-stacks-of-feces like Greg above.

  13. John, USAF LtCol says:

Awesome poster. I found it elsewhere and e-mailed it to friends and family. Since it’s by definition too late to ask for permission, I hope you will at least grant forgiveness. I’ll back-track and send the credit to those to whom I sent it.

I found this site through Ace o’ Spades, and I’m glad to discover the poster’s creator. If you ever do make a full-size print of this, I’ll buy a bunch of ‘em. Thank you so much for this creation.

  14. DANEgerus says:

It reminded me of this graphic of some other Good Guys

  15. John Pierce says:

This is great, son getting ready to rotate to the world after his 2nd tour, 17 days and we are counting down.

  16. Mike_W says:

Obviously those U.S. soldiers defending a Christian Afghan against the murderous onslaught of mujahadeen.
    No?
So the U.S. soldiers are defending an Afghan and his child from fellow murderous Afghans.

What the hell is the coalition fighting for in Afghanistan?
Let the murderous goatfuckers kill each other.
When did the U.S. military become social workers with guns?

Humanism. Cultural relativism on stilts. Every life is sacred. Bullshit!

When was the life of one coalition soldier equal to the life of a murderous Muslim barbarian(with child)?
    What a load of crap.

  17. Richard C says:

    @ Mike_W:

I think you’re missing the point.

  18. The Sniper says:

Yeah, gotta agree with you on that one Richard C.

  19. Jess B says:

Well done. I would also buy posters. Let us know what your plans are.

Absolute truth and very heartwarming. Kudos to you and thank you for providing this.

Thanks go out to all the troops serving, you don’t get enough recognition.

The only thing bad I see coming out of this picture is some liberal wack job twisting it around and claiming that they are holding the father and son prisoner.

I’d definitely be interested in a poster of this.

And Mike_W, ALL life is sacred. Even the lives of those that mean to do us harm. If there were some way of bringing peace and put and end to the fighting without taking life, I’d be all for it. But in the absence of that, let those who mean to do the innocent harm pay the ultimate price. If some of the people in Afghanistan are caught in the middle of something they don’t want to be a part of, fine, we’ll protect them. If we’re not over there to protect the innocent or those asking for help, then why put our children, parents, siblings, family members at risk.

The soldiers don’t get paid ‘big bucks’ to do this and are living in some of the worst conditions on the planet. For even two of them to risk their lives to protect someone by using themselves as human shields only speaks to the value we put on human lives.

  23. Mike_W says:

    Richard C,

Yeah, I know what the point of the post is: that the U.S. unlike the mujahadeen, do not hide behind the innocent but shelter the innocent from harm.
    That is a beautiful thing.
In many wars the U.S. has sacrificed their young men for the freedom of others.
Europe and the Pacific have many, many thousands of acres of U.S. cemetaries of your young men to prove it.
    But is Islam worth saving?
If that young man and child were Christian, heck, I’d volunteer to protect them with my body and life as well.
But likely they are Muslims and as far as I’m concerned Islam is rotten throughout and not worth defending.

    Norm,
I have enormous respect for the U.S. military.
    You guys are fantastic.
I believe all life is POTENTIALLY sacred but when dedicated to something as evil as Islam
that life becomes anti-sacred, or demonic.

  24. Richard C says:

    @ Mike_W:

So their worth as human beings is based solely on their beliefs in a deity? What if they are neither Christian or Muslim? Again I think you are missing most of the point of the poster and focusing on something other than what the author was trying to say. The same thing (anti-sacred, demonic, evil) could be said about just about any religious institution, including the Christians.

It’s possible those soldiers don’t even know they are there. It’s possible the soldiers are atheists. Or jews, Or muslims themselves. Or worshippers of Thor. It’s possible those troops are doing something else that has nothing to do with the people behind them.

The point is that the religious stuff doesn’t matter. The point here is honor. Honor is defending the innocent. Honor is putting yourself in front of someone you don’t know for any reason other than they are living helpless human beings and that you have the ability to defend them their helpless state. Stupid, bad tactics, a poor trade or not there is something heroic about that and it speaks to me. Hell, for all we know those folks could turn around in the next minute and stab those guys in the back.

However, the point also is, in that moment, captured in that photograph, that image is speaking to some of what I think is best and right about the United States of America and our troops and our country, and our people. Defend the innocent, protect the weak, use our strength to fight evil (and I realize that evil is a very malleable term), accept everyone no matter what their race, or creed, or religion, or orientation (or lack of any of those things).

No matter whether those guys and girls are there away from the luxuries of their homeland because the button pushers and chicken hawks in their comparatively safe little offices stateside sent them there under false pretenses or not, those (and every) person in the service are heroes for their sacrifice for doing the will of their country and placing themselves in harm’s way. Yeah, they get paid (a little), yeah it’s a job, yeah they get some health insurance (if they don’t die) but regardless of your feelings about any of that, those folks stood up and stepped forward and I acknowledge that.

That’s what this poster says to me but your mileage may (and probably does) vary.

  26. ToraK says:

Mike_W, your response saddens me, as a Christian, as a Deacon, and as an American. Your skepticism of the worth of that man and his child is exactly the attitude that motivates suicide bombers to do what they do, because they’ve decided the worth of the people they kill is less than those that they are promoting. US primary objectives aside, one of our key operational objectives is to protect the general populace of Afghanistan and Iraq from the terrorists in their countries.

For myself, I am disqualified from serving due to injuries I sustained in high school, and I deeply regret that circumstance, which keeps me from offering up my life for those “murderous barbarians.”

There’s something of hope in these soldier’s actions, too. Maybe the Afghani people will see that Americans are not infidels, just because we aren’t Muslim. Maybe they will see that there’s something to the American cultural religion that is worth exploring, and maybe, just maybe, the populace will undergo a shift.

But even if they do not, then it would be better to die protecting this innocent man and child from our opponents. Why? The answer is very simple.

“Greater love has no man than he lay down his life for a friend.”
    And more importantly:
“[O]ne will hardly die for a righteous man; though perhaps for the good man someone would dare even to die. But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”

    Oh man,
    America has lost its way.
Your nation’s founders would be horrified.
Your war dead would be horrified; this is not what they fought and died for.

Please, America, educate yourselves about Islam.
Islam is NOT what you have been led to believe it is.
Islam is NOT like other religions; especially, Islam is the antithesis of Christianity.
George W. Bush was wrong to mislead you about the nature of Islam.
Islam is not a “religion of peace”.
Islam is based upon everything vile in human nature.

If my word is not enough then how about a former President of your great nation:

“In the seventh century of the Christian era, a wandering Arab of the lineage of Hagar [i.e., Muhammad], the Egyptian, [.....] Adopting from the new Revelation of Jesus, the faith and hope of immortal life, and of future retribution, he humbled it to the dust by adapting all the rewards and sanctions of his religion to the gratification of the sexual passion. He poisoned the sources of human felicity at the fountain, by degrading the condition of the female sex, and the allowance of polygamy; and he declared indistinguishing and exterminating war, as a part of his religion, against all the rest of mankind. THE ESSENCE OF HIS DOCTRINE WAS VIOLENCE AND LUST.- TO EXALT THE BRUTAL OVER THE SPIRITUAL PART OF HUMAN NATURE…. Between these two religions, thus contrasted in their characters, a war of twelve hundred years has already raged. The war is yet flagrant … While the merciless and dissolute dogmas of the false prophet shall furnish motives to human action, there can never be peace upon earth, and good will towards men.”

    John Quincy Adams
Sixth President of The United States of America
    1830

God help you, the United States of America, you are being led astray.
Modern values of multiculturalism and humanism are toxic.
    All cultures are not equal.
It is not wrong to discriminate.
When we shop we discriminate between products don’t we?
Are we evil for doing that?
    No!!!
We discriminate between products for entirely logical and good reasons; we want the best for our families and ourselves.
    Same goes for ideologies.
    Some ARE better than others.
Some ARE just downright bloody evil.

Qur’an:2:216 “Jihad (holy fighting in Allah’s Cause) is ordained for you (Muslims), though you dislike it. But it is possible that you dislike a thing which is good for you, and like a thing which is bad for you. But Allah knows, and you know not.” [Another translation reads:] “Warfare is ordained for you.”
Qur’an:4:95 “Not equal are those believers who sit at home and receive no injurious hurt, and those who strive hard, fighting Jihad in Allah’s Cause with their wealth and lives. Allah has granted a rank higher to those who strive hard, fighting Jihad with their wealth and bodies to those who sit (at home). Unto each has Allah promised good, but He prefers Jihadists who strive hard and fight above those who sit home. He has distinguished his fighters with a huge reward.”
Bukhari:V4B52N44 “A man came to Allah’s Apostle and said, ‘Instruct me as to such a deed as equals Jihad in reward.’ He replied, ‘I do not find such a deed.’”
Bukhari:V1B2N25 “Allah’s Apostle was asked, ‘What is the best deed?’ He replied, ‘To believe in Allah and His Apostle Muhammad.’ The questioner then asked, ‘What is the next best in goodness?’ He replied, ‘To participate in Jihad, religious fighting in Allah’s Cause.’”
Qur’an:33:22 “Among the Believers are men who have been true to their covenant with Allah and have gone out for Jihad (holy fighting). Some have completed their vow to extreme and have been martyred fighting and dying in His Cause, and some are waiting, prepared for death in battle.”
Bukhari:V4B53N412 “Allah’s Apostle said on the day of the conquest of Mecca, ‘There is no migration now, only Jihad, holy battle. And when you are called for Jihad, you should come out at once.’”
Bukhari:V4B52N311 “Allah’s Apostle said, ‘There is no migration after the Conquest of Mecca, but only Jihad. When you are called by the Muslim ruler for Jihad fighting, you should go forth immediately, responding to the call.’”
Muslim:C28B20N4631 “I heard Muhammad say: ‘I would not stay behind when a raid for Jihad was being mobilized unless it was going to be too hard on the believers. I love that I should be killed in Allah’s Cause; then I should be brought back to life and be killed again.’”
Qur’an:9:111 “Allah has purchased the believers, their lives and their goods. For them (in return) is the Garden (of Paradise). They fight in Allah’s Cause, and they slay and are slain; they kill and are killed.”
Bukhari:V4B52N196 “Allah’s Apostle said, ‘I have been ordered to fight with the people till they say,”None has the right to be worshipped but Allah.”‘”
Qur’an:47:4 “So, when you clash with the unbelieving Infidels in battle (fighting Jihad in Allah’s Cause), smite their necks until you overpower them, killing and wounding many of them. At length, when you have thoroughly subdued them, bind them firmly, making (them) captives. Thereafter either generosity or ransom (them based upon what benefits Islam) until the war lays down its burdens. Thus are you commanded by Allah to continue carrying out Jihad against the unbelieving infidels until they submit to Islam.”
Qur’an:9:91 “There is no blame on those who are old, weak, ill, or who find no resources to spend (on Jihad, holy fighting), if they are sincere (in duty) to Allah and His Messenger.”
Qur’an:9:122 “It is not proper for the Believers to all go forth together to fight Jihad. A troop from every expedition should remain behind when others go to war.”
Bukhari:V4B52N46 “I heard Allah’s Apostle saying, ‘The example of a Mujahid [Muslim fighter] in Allah’s Cause – and Allah knows best who really strives in His Cause – is like a person who fasts and prays without ever stopping. Allah guarantees that He will admit the Mujahid in His Cause into Paradise if he is killed, otherwise He will return him to his home safely with rewards and war booty.’”
Bukhari:V4B52N50 “The Prophet said, ‘A single endeavor of fighting in Allah’s Cause is better than the world and whatever is in it.’”
Noble Qur’an:2:190 Footnote: “Jihad is holy fighting in Allah’s Cause with full force of numbers and weaponry. It is given the utmost importance in Islam and is one of its pillars. By Jihad Islam is established, Allah’s Word is made superior (which means only Allah has the right to be worshiped), and Islam is propagated. By abandoning Jihad Islam is destroyed and Muslims fall into an inferior position; their honor is lost, their lands are stolen, their rule and authority vanish. Jihad is an obligatory duty in Islam on every Muslim. He who tries to escape from this duty, or does not fulfill this duty, dies as a hypocrite.”
