“Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall.”
Thank you Mr. Reagan for staring down the evil empire and Mr. Gorbachev for knowing when enough was enough.
BERLIN – Chancellor Angela Merkel has joined former Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev and other luminaries at what was once a fortified border crossing — retracing her steps on the night 20 years ago that the Berlin Wall fell.
The Bornholmer Strasse bridge was the first crossing to open on Nov. 9, 1989 following a communist official’s confused announcement that East Germany was lifting travel restrictions.
Merkel crossed the bridge Monday with prominent former East Germans. She was joined there by Gorbachev and Poland’s pro-democracy leader, Lech Walesa.
Merkel, who grew up in East Germany, thanked Gorbachev for making change possible.
She said it was “not just a day of celebration for Germany, (but) a day of celebration for the whole of Europe.”
Amen, sister. I wish Ronnie were alive to see this.
Let freedom ring.

Isn’t it interesting that Obama was nowhere to be found at the ceremony?!
What’s more interesting is how during his “videotaped” speech, he found a way to insert himself, with no mention of Reagan or Thatcher! This guy is unreal, the ultimate narcissist!
