Are We At Least Approaching Saturation Point?

KabuldeadJust how much higher does the body count have to climb before we do something?

KABUL – Taliban militants wearing suicide vests and police uniforms stormed a guest house used by U.N. staff in the heart of the Afghan capital early Wednesday, killing 12 people — including six U.N. staff. It was the biggest in a series of attacks intended to undermine next month’s presidential runoff election.

A Taliban spokesman claimed responsibility for the early morning assaults, which also included rocket attacks at the presidential palace and the city’s main luxury hotel.

The chief of the United Nations mission in Afghanistan, Kai Eide, said the attack “will not deter the U.N. from continuing all its work” in the country. One of the six U.N. dead was an American, the U.S. Embassy said.

They’re trying to kill UN election workers. Read that again: election workers. The Taliban is trying to cause this government and the next to fail in one fell swoop before the people of Afghanistan have even had their say. We cannot, I say again CANNOT, wait for election results before we send in troops to get the situation stabilized. What the hell has to happen before we act?!? We’re quickly becoming a laughing stock in the region and the entire Islamic world. A loss of face in this situation isn’t just an embarassment, it’s a national security issue. If we’re perceived as weak by our Jihadi enemies, they will use that perception as an invitation… and as we’ve all seen before, that’s not good.

Even as our Secretary of State is in Pakistan assuring that country that they have our full support, the Taliban/al Qaeda/Death Inc is sending their own message in their own particualr idiom…

PESHAWAR, Pakistan – A car bomb tore through a busy market in northwestern Pakistan on Wednesday, killing 91 people as U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton visited the country and pledged American support for its campaign against Islamist militants.

More than 200 people were wounded in the blast in the main northwestern city of Peshawar, the deadliest in a surge of attacks this month. The government blamed militants seeking to avenge an army offensive launched this month against al-Qaida and Taliban in their stronghold close to the Afghan border.

They did this when our own Secretary of State was visiting their country. They don’t fear us anymore. Hell, they don’t even respect our strength anymore. We need to correct that and we need to correct that fast. The John Kerry’s of the world be damned… we need real leaders with real experience and a real plan and we need them really fast.

The time for deliberations is over Mr. President: it’s time to sh*t or get off the pot… and getting off the pot isn’t an option.

It’s a sad state of affairs when our Commander-in-Chief is dragging ass with so much human life at stake. All I can think about is that things would be better off on the war front if Hillary had won. I never thought I’d be saying that.

I agree 100%. I think that’s why he’s been marginalizing her involvement in any foreign affairs of any import. She is still a threat to him politically, so he sends in John Kerry or Bill Clinton where the important stuff is going on and leaves Hillary to second rate junkets. Don’t get me wrong, Pakistan is uber important, but she should have been the one making statements about both Pakistan AND Afghanistan… not John “three months in the Nam PX” Kerry.

This feet dragging isn’t saving his party’s 2010 election results nor his own re-election bid in 2012… it’s killing it. He’s reached the Peter Principle plus two.

I first became interested in politics, and rebeled against my pro-union/dem upbringing, almost 30 years ago when I lived in Oregon and we voted for a massive property tax cut, and the teachers unions, and liberal legislature threatened all of us with draconic cuts to police, fire, and schools. They were pissed we wanted to keep our own money and they were going to punish us.

So… I am reminded of this again. I feel like BO is threatening us if we don’t wise up and support HIS agenda. I fear he is dragging his feet awaiting the masses to obediently line up behind his agenda and silence our critical thinking and dissent.

I’ve read some amazing stuff from BG Tata (retired) in other blogs about specifics of how BO said he’d support A-Stan and now he is not, and it is clearly costing us US servicemen lives as they are spread so thin as to have no reinforcements.

BO’s failure to act is having a direct & measurable impact…
On the body count in A-Stan…
It makes me sick… and sad… and fearful for the future of our nation…
