First And Last

October 26th, 2009 by The Sniper

Hey folks, today is the last day to try your hand at a free t-shirt from RangerUp. I started the contest last week, tomorrow we find out who won. I’m kind of surprised at how few people actually gave it a try. It must have been a slow week. Well, you still have today to get your last entries in if you still want to try. If so, send them to spear_sniper@yahoo.ocm. You can’t win if you don’t play and you’ll miss 100% of the shots you don’t take and all of those other cliches. And remember, if you don’t try to win a t-shirt, the terrorists have already won.

Also (and more importantly) today marks the kick off of the Project Valour-IT Veteran’s Day Fund drive competition. In case you didn’t know, Valour-IT is a program with Soldiers Angels that raises money for soldiers with a very special purpose in mind. This program was created to purchase Voice Activated Laptop computers for Our Incapacitated Troops. Basically it gives wounded soldiers, sailors, airmen, and marines who have lost the use of their hands a voice activated laptop computer so they can readjust, reintegrate, and generally function in the modern, digital world when otherwise they wouldn’t be able to. To anyone who who checks their e-mail everyday without a second thought, it should be painfully clear just how integral electronic communication and the ability to use a computer on a daily basis really is.

This fund drive is a friendly interservice/vet rivalry drive that pits the four service branches agaisnst each other to see who can raise the most money. I, of course, am playing for team “Army” with BlackFive as our team captain blog. If can donate even a little to this very noble cause, please do. You can see how our progress is going on the chart to the right and you can also follow it as a link to the Soldier’s Angels site or you can follow the hot link on their name.

Noble causes and t-shirts. Not a bad way to start your week.
